The 101st Apple Cup - Get Ready Queen Anne

November 18th, 2008

Apple Cup 2008 by you.The Cougars and Washington Huskies will battle it out in the 2008  ‘Apple Cup’ Saturday, November 22nd in Martin Stadium.  For the first time in the history of Husky Stadium, the Huskies football team went an entire season without a win in its clutches. The Cougars have collected one win over Portland State.  But if you’re from Washington, you know that a winning season can mean winning the Apple Cup.  A least it will make a season like this one end on an upswing.  Neither team will want to lose.  No, this could be one of the biggest, longest, dirtiest Apple Cups ever.  It’ll be a grapple, a struggle, an all out battle, but someone is going to win, and I  know that there are lots of both Cougars and Huskies in this city.  Many of you will be bearing your flags this week.  So the rest of you get creative; decorate your doors, hang your banners, paint your mailboxes and show that spirit.  It’s also a great way to meet your neighbors. Don’t miss this classic battle between long-standing rivals! Game starts at 12:00.

Have you ever been Pesos in Queen Anne?  I think most people around here have, or at least have heard about it.  But did you know that they have 3 happy Hours?

Breakfast Happy hour Mon-Fri 9-11 am                        *Every breakfast item is only $6                                         *Big portions at the right price!                                                                                      Happy hour in the lounge from 4-6 pm and 10- 1 am DAILY !

Look at all these $4 items.

This is the way I love to eat.  Little bits of everything.  The food here, a new take on Mexican flavors, has gotten great reviews. It’s all good but I especially loved anything with the Ahi Tuna. You’ll find a whole variety of reviews on Peso’s, the best ones are about the food, and the restaurant seems to have lines going out the door all the time which definitely tells me something.

As a realtor, I like to share with you the monthly statistics of home sales in the area. There were 22 homes sold in the month of October in the Queen Anne area.  The average days on the market was 85.  With a median selling price of $719,130, homes sold at 93% of their original list price, and 97% of their current list price.  This is good! and shows that homes in Queen Anne are holding their value well, even in this market.

Today was a pretty rainy, even windy, miserable day.  But as I drove through Queen Anne I couldn’t help but laugh.  The rain doesn’t stop people here.  There were people every where.   Some were just walking, with coffee, deep in conversation, some were actually walking for exercise.  Some had dogs, some looked as though they were coming from theater events.  Some even seemed to be doing their shopping.  The beautiful thing was, there were people, people all around, the city was busy and alive with happy friendly faces.  This is what I love about Queen Anne.
